Relationship/Premarital Counseling:
The Family Charter

The Family Charter is a protocol for couples thinking about marriage or other large commitments. It is informed by EFT and DBT for couples.

The Family Charter protocol consists of 10 structured, action-oriented sessions. Couples first identify the shared values that form the foundation of their relationship. Then a series of facilitated discussions helps clarify each person's specific expectations for their future, identify any conflicts, and work toward a place of alignment.

We also identify common challenges within the relationship and problemsolve how to recognize these dynamics in the moment. Finally, couples create their own system to most effectively engage in challenging conversations in the future. By the end of the protocol couples have developed a charter laying out the foundation their relationship is built on and have the skills to continue these conversations on their own.
