Building a Values-Based Private Practice:
Consultation
Our values-based practice consultations are for clinicians interested in starting their own private practice, expanding their practice, or figuring out how to bring their current practice more in line with their values.
I started Brooklyn Behavioral Therapy because I wanted to build a practice that was firmly grounded in my values, felt authentic to me, AND was also financially sustainable. It was extremely difficult to find models of what I wanted to create. It was hard enough to even find resources explaining the basic logistics needed to open a private practice properly. The limited business advice I did receive felt overly cold, inauthentic, or questionably clinically sound. I decided to develop my own model for the practice I believed was possible.
In speaking to people over the years, I have realized that many, many therapists are interested in creating a practice that aligns with their value system but they don't know how to go about it. I have loved figuring out the logistics of building a more ethical business - it's something I find really energizing and am extremely passionate about. I want to share the resources and insight I've developed over the years to make it easier for others' to build their own values-based practices. My hope is that access to these resources helps further my own values-based goals of increased access to treatment and increased quality of life for clinicians.
We offer a variety of consultation resources, including one-time workshops, small group consultation series, and individual consultation. If cost is prohibitive for any of these consultation options, there are scholarships available based on financial need. Please request a scholarship form if you need a scholarship spot.
Upcoming Workshops
Developing a Standardized Sliding Scale
(June 5, 2026; 11am-1pm EST)
This workshop provides resources on how to develop a sliding scale that is both standardized enough to satisfy my lawyer's liability concerns and meets client need in an equitable way. I've found that having a standardized scale not only reduces liability, but can also reduce friction in discussing pricing with clients and my own burnout from clients who I later found had the means to afford my full fee but didn't want to pay it.
Date: Friday 6/5 from 11am-1pm
Cost: $150. Scholarship options available based on financial need.

Identifying your Practice Values and Putting them into Action
(July 17th, 2026; 12pm-2pm EST)
This workshop is intended to help clinicians identify their values, operationalize them in behaviorally specific ways, and figure out how to actually put them into practice in their business. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a clear values statement developed for their practice as well as a clear idea of what implementing them might look like.
Date: Friday 7/17 from 12pm-2pm EST
Cost: $150. Scholarship options available based on financial need.
If you are interested in this workshop, please fill out this registration form. If the time of this workshop doesn't work for you but you are interested in attending a future workshop, please send us an email at info@brooklynbehavioraltherapy.com.
