Job description:

Psychotherapist (LMSW)

Brooklyn Behavioral Therapy is an equitable practice dedicated to providing compassionate, effective mental health care to the people of New York. Our primary goals are to increase access to quality care for clients and create a positive environment where clinicians feel valued.

We specialize in providing DBT and DBT-informed therapy, as well as other evidence-based behavioral modalities. Interest in furthering training in behavioral therapy and evidence-based practice is essential. As a practice, we are committed to continuous learning and growth. We also care deeply about clients as well as the systems that are affecting them. We would expect any employee to feel the same way and be invested in addressing them.

We are looking to hire an LMSW full-time to provide psychotherapy services to adults. Candidates with other licenses will be considered on a case-to-case basis. Ideally, this candidate would have some post-grad school training in evidence-based treatment, as well as experience providing psychotherapy to adults (internships count as experience). Extra preference for training/experience in DBT, but post-grad school training in CBT, ACT, ERP, PE, etc are also welcome. If you don't have training but have a specific interest in learning DBT, your application is still welcome.

The job is fee-for-service. After six months full-time employees may be entitled to a healthcare stipend and paid time off. This position is full-time and you will be expected to see a minimum of 20 clients a week. You will be eligible for a profit-sharing bonus at the end of each calendar year. We will also pay for approved trainings. The environment aims to be compassionate, collaborative, and conducive to growth as a clinician as well as a fulfilling life as a human being. You will be seen and treated as a person. We will also be happy to help you start your own private practice once you get your LCSW if you’re interested in that!

Candidate must be already licensed as an LMSW in NY state. This position is mostly remote, but due to licensing regulations you must reside in NY state. Candidate will also be expected to come to NYC in-person intermittently for work events.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 20 individual, couples, or group therapy sessions a week

  • Provide phone coaching to DBT clients

  • Participate in weekly individual supervision and a weekly consultation team meeting

  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on client needs and goals

  • Conduct phone consultations with clients

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate client care

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records

  • Stay current on best practices and evidence-based interventions in psychotherapy, including attending regular trainings

Qualifications:

  • LMSW license in NY State

  • Located in New York City. If located elsewhere in New York State, must be able to come to NYC for work events as needed

  • Training in at least one evidence-based modality preferred - DBT strongly preferred, CBT, ACT, ERP, PE also appreciated.

  • Prefer some experience providing psychotherapy (grad school placements count!)

Compensation

  • $65-95/session

  • Healthcare stipend

  • Paid time off
