Eliza Hecht, LCSW
I started this practice because I believe that everyone deserves access to effective, compassionate mental health care.
Many of my clients are suffering greatly and have never gotten the care they needed. Some have been in therapy for a long time and still feel like nothing has helped. Some feel so miserable or out of control that they don't even want to be alive anymore. My goal isn't just to keep my clients alive but to help them build lives they actually want to live.

I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Fordham University. Since then I have pursued extensive training in evidence-based modalities. I specialize in treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and its symptoms, including emotion dysregulation, self-harm/suicidality, and impulsive behavior. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech. I also specialize in treating PTSD and OCD. I am intensively trained in DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) for PTSD by Melanie Harned, and Exposure and Response/Ritual Prevention (ERP) for OCD by Steve Tsao, David Yusko, and Christina DiChiara. I have additional training in ACT, DBT for couples (Alan Fruzzetti), and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

My style is warm, directive, and genuine. Therapy with me is collaborative - I have my expertise and you have yours. I always welcome feedback. It is important to me that my clients feel heard and understood while also being gently pushed when needed!

Sessions with me usually start with breaking down something that happened in the last week - the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, urges that came into play in the moment - to better understand it. Then we will figure out together how we can change that course of events to have a different outcome next time. I will teach you some sort of skill or concept to practice over the course of the next week.

When I'm not being a therapist I love cooking elaborate recipes, making hand-made Halloween costumes, and watching reality television. If I ever wanted a career change I think I could write an excellent dissertation about how Bravo shows are actually incredibly complex, clever television only dismissed as trash because of misogyny, but we don't have to get into that now.
