Eliza Hecht, LCSW
I am a psychotherapist and the founder of Brooklyn Behavioral Therapy. I believe that everyone deserves access to effective, compassionate mental health care. Many of my clients are suffering greatly and have never gotten the care they needed. Some have been in therapy for a long time and still feel like nothing has helped. Some feel so miserable that their lives feel totally out of control or they don't even want to be alive anymore. My goal is to help my clients ultimately build lives they actually want to live.

My style is warm, directive, and genuine. Therapy with me is collaborative - I have my expertise and you have yours. I always welcome feedback. It is important to me that clients feel heard and respected.
I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Fordham University. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech, and I have additional intensive training in DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) for PTSD from Melanie Harned, the developer of the treatment. I have training in DBT for couples from Alan Fruzzetti. I am also trained in Exposure and Response/Ritual Prevention (ExRP) for OCD and in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

When I'm not being a therapist I love cooking, hand-sewing sweaters for my greyhound Goose, and watching Bravo TV. If I ever wanted a career change, I think I could write an excellent dissertation about how The Real Housewives shows are actually incredibly complex, clever television only dismissed as trash because of misogyny, but we don't have to get into that now.
